Tampa Fire Alarms

Tampa Fire Alarm Control Panels

Fire alarms are designed to alert you of the presence, risk or danger from the devastating effects of fire. The fire alarms main purpose is your first line of defense in the event of a fire. There are heat detection alarms, carbon monoxide detector alarms, flame detector alarms & smoke detector alarms. The fire alarms main job is alerting you to the presence, risk or danger of fire, alert off-site facilities/authorities (Fire Department) and initiate the fire sprinklers and fire protection system.

Fire alarm control panels (FACP), also known as fire alarm control units (FACU). The fire alarm control panel is used to manage all fire alarms within the public, commercial or industrial building. All fire alarms, pull switches, fire sprinklers, sprinkler heads, control valves, etc...are wired into the fire alarm control panel. So that a user may find out the status of the fire protection system.

Types of Fire Alarm Control Panels in Tampa

There are four major types of fire alarm control panels available. Coded panels, conventional panels, multiplex systems, and addressable panels. We offer a description of each type of fire alarm control panel below.

Coded Fire Alarm Control Panels

The coded fire alarm control panel was in use as early as the 1800's and remained popular until the 1970's. The coded fire alarm control panels were connected to the fire protection system and fire alarms through coded wheels. The downside of the coded fire alarm control panel is that it would generally turn on multiple zones if just one of the zones was triggered.

Conventional Fire Alarm Control Panels

With the invention of electronics the conventional fire alarm control panel was the replacement to the coded fire alarm control panel. This allowed the conventional fire alarm control panel to become smaller, similiar in size to a modern electrical load center. Still the problem remained with the conventional fire alarm control panel that if a zone was triggered you would not be able to distinguish which room in the zone was in need of help.

Multiplex Fire Alarm Control Panels

The multiplex fire alarm control panel is one giant conventional fire alarm control panel and was created for use in the 1970's through 1980's. Generally multiplex fire alarm control panels are designed for use in skyscrapers, large buildings, they are big in size and may fill up an entire room. Over the years many upgrades were made to the multiplex fire alarm control panel allowing the ability to monitor or control more than just the fire protection and fire alarm system such as HVAC, security systems, etc...

Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panels

Addressable fire alarm control panels are by far superior to all other fire alarm control panels. The are easily programmable to manage, monitor and control multiple applications within your public, commercial or industrial building, such as fire alarms, pull switches, fire sprinklers, sprinkler heads, control valves, HVAC, and building security. The addressable fire alarm control panels advantages is that you can create signaling line circuit loops, maps, zones, groups, boolean logic, networking, monitoring, back-up power and more.

Tampa Fire Alarm Systems

There are manual operation fire alarms, such as pull switch that are generally located in public buildings and schools.

Automatic fire alarms, such as carbon monoxide, and smoke detector alarms are generally found in most buildings including public and private residences.

Fire alarms and fire detection alarms are designed to be the first line of defense, alarming all to the event of a possible fire, offer time for your patrons to evacuate, as fire sprinklers spring to life extinguishing the fire in your business. The fire alarm is designed to save lives.

A fire sprinkler system is often wired to the fire detection alarms and fire alarms. The fire sprinkler system is a network of pipes installed throughout a building. The pipes carry water or fire extinguishing material to each of the fire sprinkler heads located in the ceilings, walls, and ground heads designed to spray fire extinguishing material on the fire hazard and extinguish the fire. When the water or fire extinguishing material flows through the pipes and out the fire sprinkler heads a secondary alarm may notify the local fire department allowing them to dispatch the fire department if necessary.
